Re: pole vault trainer
I am not sure what specific item you are referring to, but one item many people buy is the large black stick with bungi cords that you attach to a fixed item. It may be good for one day of the year practice. But past that there is no use for it. The portion of the vault that it trains, happens much later. The majority of the 'pole vault trainers' out there have little to do with pole vault, neurologically they do not translate skills very well... Having said that there are some items that are very useful that I would recommend or at least a cheaper way to do it.
One item that I am a fan of is the 'pole topper' if you were to buy it. It is a sock that has a bungi attached it then attaches to the pole and then to your foot, helps with pull through. If you were to buy it, you would probably spend too much for the what it actually is. I would recommend investing in two large medium resistance weight lifting resistance bands. On the ground it can help teach, very easily, for new vaulters what to feel when you fold back onto the pole and start to pull with the shoulders, and then mimics the pull through and extension. Take a vault, do about five of these pull throughs, get that feeling in your head then take another vault and try to mimic that feeling. For more experienced vaulters, you back up the distance, and then as it is used with resistance bands, it can be used as a strengthening device.
You buy resistance bands because you can use them for something else once you don't do this drill anymore.
just some thoughts.

Re: pole vault trainer
Thank your very much for your explanation, I had already made a trainer with my own pullies, and if I want to train with it I am doing 20 rep and 3 sets, the question is if its necessary for the vaulter and it develops him or just a parading.
