by HI im RILEY
im new here so if this in the wrong forum.. sorry.
since the about the middle of the spring winter season, my right foot started to hurt really bad. so bad it cut my running spedd in half! i had to move my step up about 10 feet and i still can barely get through my run.
has anyone had extreme soreness around the back/leftside of theier heel? ive had it scanned for broken bones and they cant see anything oon the x-ray. im going to a podiatrist soon and i hope to be able to find out whats wrong and get back to my normal speed.
its driving me CRAZY. ive been limping around for a couple of months now..
anyone else had similar problems?

Fractures can take up to 4 weeks to show up on an X-Ray film.
podiatrist is a great idea. There really isnt' much back there to hurt. Achillies tendon, Calcaneous Bone, and some small ligaments.
Chances are the podiatrist will either have an Idea of what it is right away, or send you back for a CT or MRI if it is limiting you that much.
I am interested to find out what it is.

I've had the exact same kind of pains several times, and every time it was caused by landing on it really hard. Actually I'm dealing with that right now, because on Tuesday I was at practice and I came up short on a jump and my heel landed on the top of the plant box, and since then my heel is having the kind of pain you describe. I don't think that mine is as bad as yours tho.
gel heel cup inserts seem to help, as do regular inserts. I don't know what's going on or what is actually damaged, but if it's been hurting for that long and not getting better you need to rest it!!!
by the way, how can it hurt while you're vaulting? If it's not on your jump foot, it shouldn't be that bad. Are you sprinting on your toes?

That is the first thing that came to my mind. But I have bruised my heal befor hurdling, and it rarely hurt when i was running on my toes. Could be an arch issue.
Just see a specialist and they will take care of you.

definatly, I used it whenever I worked out and it seemed to help alot. Also I bought these wierd ace-wrap like sleve that goes over your arch and holds your tendons in place. The arch wrap coupled with the heel tape job, not only made my heel feel better, but it also relieved my shin splints! After doing that I talked to my coach and he said that bad arch support can be a factor in shin splints. So, it workd for a couple reasons.

I know how much it sucks to have that kind of issue...One day when I was vaulting I got this really wierd throbbing in my feet, especially around my ankles. It really hurt! It felt so much better with my shoes off. It never happened again though. I hope you figure it out and get it fixed!
