Mecham Goes Into Surgery

Well Hello Everyone!
It sure has been a long time since I have posted on the board. But most of you guys knew I was vaulting at BYU. Training was going great, we were working hard, and getting buff, like Americans do. The only thing that wasnt going great was the pain in my hips. Everyday it got worse. I went to the physical therapist and they didnt know why I was in pain. So I went to the BYU health center, saw a few doctors and got some x-rays. The first 3 doctors I saw had no Idea what was going on either. Weeks went by and finally I saw a hip specialist. After some more x-rays and MRI's, drugs, and testing, he came to the conclusion that I have a rare hip condition called a femoralacetabular inpingement. Or in simple terms, my hips are rotated backwards, the ball of my femur bone doesnt fit into the hip socket, and that causes the bones to rub against each other. This isnt good at all. So, in order to fix this I get to have surgery! It is a complicated procedure, which requires them to cut a 1foot whole down my leg, so they can dislocate the hip and bring it out to work on! I go in for surgery on January 2nd, and wont be able to walk on my own for 4-6 months, and no polevaulting for more than 1 year. But just thought I would let ya know! Happy Vaulting Everyone.
