haha, yeah its true, but for a highschooler, bench i guess is the cool lift, i never really thought it was great, i payed more attention to cleans, but its good to see everyone getting stronger right?

I'm a clean guy personally. 225 clean and push, but I feel the push put too much unnecessary pressure on my shoulders, I still feel a little pain now and then. But I still believe the clean in the most productive lift for an athlete and their core.

[quote="ryansanta"]bench- 250

And to how it relates to the vault, well, it's your core. Your core is the central point to a good athlete. Every core lift (squats-505, clean-175 ,deadlift-don't do) is essential to becoming stronger and faster. However have your limits. I find deadlifts to be far less benificial than any of the others athletic wise, so I choose not to do them. CORE![/quote

I hope you meant to say Clean - 275 or Snatch 175. Otherwise youare exposed. Anyone who can Squat 505 can Clean way more than 175.

The trick to lying on internet message boards is all about proprotions. You've got to get them right!

If you could only do three lifts to become a better athlete, not pole vaulting specific, I'd say it's the clean, bench, and squat (without a box- compresses your back when you hit it). Those in combination with a good plyometric workout will put you in the best place to improve power/speed/strength. Get your endurance workouts in before the lifting season and you'll be right where you want to be. Don't forget speed workouts too. Just don't get too big like I did :\\ (unless you're Tommy Skipper).
