This is a senior honors thesis of a student at Denison University who used software available with a simple digital camera and 285 dollar video editting program. She compared tons of data between the pole vault and the gymnastics vault. This may have already been known by many, but it was suprising to me to learn that this kind of advanced training and technique measuring software was available to anyone with the right funds. It seems to me that a serious coach could purchase this software and analyze every individual vaulters speed, take off angle, hand position, center of mass, and much more. Its just a really cool article to me, and i figured i would share it. Let me know if this is somewhat new or if this has been around for a while.

Video Editing
Ya video editing is a lot of fun if you have some free time becuase it can take a while. Once you start it is hard to stop! I went on download.com and downloaded a free 30 day trial of Ulead. It was real easy to use and you could slow video down frame by frame which was cool to see your vault in such a slow mo. highly recommend using for making sweet pole vault mixes as well as practice use.
