Purchase Ora McMurray’s video and you will see Earl Bell jumping 19 feet. That is a great video with pole vaulters from the 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. I think it is a fabulous video. You can check OnTrack and/or Track and Field News. Good luck with your pole vaulting. Keep things simple, and have fun. :D

back on topic, Last time I ran the 100 was a long time ago, musta been 4 years now, and I wasn't vaulting then, so I wont say a time, because I'm not sure of it's accuracy, but I run the 110 hurdles, and just last week I got a PB of 15.7, and over the summer I ran the 200m in 25 flat

Trey,

If you convert that fabulous speed on the pole vault runway you should easily jump 18’0’’+ in any conditions. Do not limit your goals, think 9,000+. Good luck the rest of the season. :D

Most deffinitly, does anyone know what bubka and petrov ran in the 100? Or we could just know their meters/ second. Im guessing if you run 100 in 10.28 you are around 11 m/sec at top speed, should be at least 10.5 on the runway, that would be nuuutss!!!

the long term goal is for me to get back to 7 or 8 lefts with a walk-in or something, to generate more speed COMFORTABLY... but 6 lefts is just right for me this year, i feel that i can go 5.20m in any conditions which is a total 180 from last year.

Trey,

If you are making 5.20 from six lefts (12 strides if my math is right) that is incredible. When you have a chance, maybe after the season and/or next you may look at backing up to 16 to 18 strides and you will probably jump a foot higher. Most of the elite jumpers run from 16 to 20 strides. Bubka ran from 20 strides most of the time. I saw him jump 6.00 meters from 18 strides in a Los Angeles Indoor meet in the early 90s because the runway was not long enough (amazing). Good luck at the NCAAs and USA National Championships.
:D
