not sure about pilates for pole vaulting. seems like pilates is mainly used for looks and slimming down and building lean muscle. i could be wrong though, i dont know a whole lot about pilates, just seen some commercials

I'm a big fan of pilates type activities; however, the commercially available tapes and programs are not nearly intense enough to be of benefit for most pole vaulters. Consult your local dance studio and find a good instructor, preferrably Russian, and with a mean streak.

I used pilates in training and it has helped me alot. The combination of stretching and strengthing you get from doing pilates you can't get from weights or stretching alone. I find it keeps away the nagging injuries and stregthens the smaller muscles in your body. Good stuff, I recommend trying it out. Windsor pilates is good if you need somewhere to start.

Needed to use pilates to prevent back surgery --- Went to Rick Williams
of Fitness Institute --- (studied the technique of Joseph Pilates)

It has been since 2003 and has not needed surgery and still is jumping very well She works out with tapes that were suggested by Rick......

I highly recommend the practice......In addition, I tried it with my sprinters (400 runners mostly) and

Has been great for my sprinters too......Hip flexors
