Do I need to work on biceps and triceps?

Do I need to work on biceps and triceps?

Topic. I thought pole vaulters did not need to train these areas

You most certainly will be training them when you are doing any push ups, pull ups, bench, rows, overhead press... But you really don't need to be doing bicep curls if you are already doing a decent upper body lift

Both are important but I'm pretty sure triceps might be more so.

What about 5000 plant drills?

What about 5000 plant drills?

you will can build almost all of the upper body strength you need through pole vaulting and bar work. Incline and military press are necessary to protect your shoulders.

Train power and explosiveness. The only people that need to be isolating muscle groups one at a time are body builders. Some say you get all strength you need from vaulting but just like you will never find pole vaulter on the world championship level who is slow, you will never find one who is weak either. When you bend a pole 50 pounds over your body weight you are using your speed to bend it, but if your arms are not strong enough to absorb that energy you are probably going to not be able to keep your plant over your head or you are just going to get hurt.
