off-season training - perfecting my technique

Unread postby pleasantpv09 » Fri May 21, 2010 5:36 pm

I'm a sophomore in high school, and I've been vaulting for 3 years now. I'm very dedicated to the sport and perfecting my technique, but with all the practice I put in, I don't get the results my fellow vaulters get. The guys who were my competition in 8th grade are now vaulting a foot, a foot and a half higher than me now. I've decided to continue vaulting through the summer, take a break for cross country season, and then about a month after cross country is over, I'll start vaulting again.

Here are the main things I need to improve on:
-my separation; it's okay, but it could be much better.
-inverting; For some reason, I can get completely inverted while straight-poling from a 3-step, but when I go to my full run (6-step) and press the pole, I just won't invert.
-my press; once again, it's okay, but it could be much better.

Any drills I can do to help me improve on these? Thanks.

Also, any weightlifting routines I should use? These would be appreciated as well, thanks.
