Mike McGinnis (twin brother of Peter McGinnis) passed away

August 26, 1954- Febuary 10, 2013
Michael Gordon McGinnis, of Taylors, South Carolina, joined the Communion of Saints on Sunday, February 10, 2013.
Those carrying on his legacy of love include wife, Meredith Epley McGinnis of Taylors; daughter, Kathryn McGinnis Wilson (Matt), of North Charleston, SC; son, Peter S. McGinnis, of James Island, SC; father, Philip R. McGinnis, Newark, DE; brother, Peter M. McGinnis (Boodie), Cortland, NY; sisters Donna Higgins (Jim), Chesapeake City, MD, Bryn Burke (John), Alexandria Va., and Kim McGinnis Russell; 14 nieces and nephews, 10 grand-nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a daughter, Margaret Ruth McGinnis and his mother, Doris Joye Gordon McGinnis.
Michael was joyful, intuitive and possessed a quiet personal faith. His career as a software engineer and project manager of textile monitoring systems spanned 20 years. His avocation, however, was coaching high school track & field athletes in the pole vault. Mike excelled in that event at Duke University and later in Masters Track & Field competitions.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February, 13 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 1860 Reid School Road, Taylors, SC. His family will greet friends at the church from 1:30-2:30 p.m. prior to the 3:00 p.m. service.
The family expresses deep gratitude for the loving and skillful care provided by Virginia (Ginger) Bahena, Scott Smith, and Dana Hallman of At Home Care of the Carolinas, and gratefully acknowledges the staff of Vista Care Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 301 University Ridge, Greenville, SC 29601; St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 1860 Reid School Road, Taylors, SC, 29687, or to the charity of one’s choice.
