USTFCCCA Advanced Pole Vault Coaches Symposium
The USTFCCCA is thrilled to announce the addition of the Advanced Pole Vault Coaches Symposium to the schedule of this year’s convention. Beginning at 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 10 and running through 12:30 PM on Monday, December 11, the summit will include presentations by some of the top Pole Vault coaches in the country including Pat Licari of the University of Washington, Tom Hays of the University of Kansas, Jim Bemiller of the University of Tennessee and Ralph Lindeman of the US Air Force Academy. The USTFCCCA Advanced Pole Vault Coaches Symposium is free to all registered convention attendees. USTFCCCA Advanced Pole Vault Symposium Presenter Bios
Jim Bemiller – Professor of undergraduate and graduate level courses in sport law and sport governance at the University of Tennessee. Primary research interests include negligence and risk management in sport settings, gender equity and constitutional issues in sport. Jim is also the personal coach of 2004 Olympic Pole Vault Champion Tim Mack and 2000 Olympic Silver Medalist Lawrence Johnson in addition to numerous other high level vaulters.
Tom Hays – Pole Vault coach at the University of Kansas. A collegiate coach for over 20 years, Tom has coached 8 national champions, 5 national runner-ups, and 5 collegiate record holders. In 2002, Tom worked with vault legend Sergey Bubka as an event development coordinator for the World Jr. Championships.
Pat Licari – Pole Vault coach at the University of Washington. Pat is the coach of Brad Walker, the current world leader in the vault. Additionally, Pat has worked with numerous female vaulters that have established the University of Washington as one of the nation’s elite vault programs.
Ralph Lindeman – Head coach of U.S. Air Force Academy. Ralph served as the men’s jumps and combined events coach at the 2004 Olympic Games as well as for numerous other U.S. national teams. A byproduct of the tremendous amount of research that Ralph has conducted on approach run concepts and techniques is the emergence of the Air Force Academy as one of the premier vault programs in the country.
