worst situation ever

Unread postby reggiereeves » Tue Apr 25, 2006 8:05 pm

what pole should i use, i have cleared 11'6" on a borrowed pole but it is unavailable to me. (a 13' 130lb) i can use a 13' 120, 12' 130 or a practice pole that is 13' 140. i completely blow through the 120 and the highest i can get is 10 ft on it, the 130 doesnt do anything, the 140 blasts me back onto the runway, what the frick should i do?

If your standards are 70 or more then use the 13' 140.... meets are the best time to get on a new pole.

if you weight is under 120 the advice I would give is use the 13 120

and move your steps up 1 left or two total steps. Lower your grip down 6" to start and slowing move back up until you can either get on the 140 on a regular basis or find another 130 to use. In order to go higher you will need to get on the 140 in the end so that might be the best solution is fix your approach and plant and get on the 140.

if you weight more than 120 pounds work on yoru plant and lower your grip on the 140 you shouldn't vault on anything under your weight in a meet setting.

If you're going through just make sure you swing through really Hard to go up as much as possible. you need tor really get off the pole if it's not enough. don't worry about getting in. you will.

get a helmet!

but really, if you are jumping and have any doubt that you are going to make it in or not, DO NOT FINISH, just ride it out. better safe than sorry.

actually, i think i just quit polevaulting today, i was using the 140, but must have been asleep when i put the flex point backwards, and i got flung onto my back onto the runway, afterward i just got to scared to even plant, and i think i might have ripped the ligaments in my shoulder. maybe next year!
