Grip width

Unread postby sidjamin » Mon May 09, 2005 9:14 pm

I am a junior in high school who has vaulted 12'. I have always wondered what the best width to hold my hands at when I vault. Currently i hold with a very wide grip because it feels more comfortable during the run. I think this may be hindering my swing and rockback and have had people tell me to change it but bringing it in makes me feel out of control on the run. Any suggestions or comments on this subject would be appreciated.

Shoulder width. Jump on a bar and hang, see how it feels. The longer you body is the better, and shoulder width usually makes it the longest.
