Im new to pole vault...

Ive recently been interested in the multi-event events. I have very little to no knowledge in the pole vault and am a sophmore in high school, i would like to become a knowledgeable vaulter even if i never get very good at it so i can help my teammates. Are there any articles that are a must to read before i start, or any drills that will help me begin, Thanks for any help that any provides. Peace

Go to www.Bubbapv.com. Doug Sparks has a very good website with lots of training info and "stuff" on it. If you have particular questions you can e-mail him. He will "e" you back. Coming to this website is a good move also. The folks that contribute here know what they're talking about and they are a fun bunch of folks. Later................Mike

Where do you live? Depending on your location there may be excellent resources nearby. Taking direction from a person is a whole lot better than trying to read, interprete, and apply. I would think this would be nearly impossible to do well alone.

yes this is a good point and you dont know how true it is till you have had some good coaching.
If you cant do it right , do if 10000 more times till you can

like what the others said, def. go get a coach. before i got one, reading and trying to learn pv wasn't enough, i didn't know how to go about using the information. a coach will help tear apart the vault and work on a specific area one by one. i think tis the best way to learning it correctly without getting bad habits.

I live in westchester,Ny, harrison to be exact and our school has never really had a good pole vaulter, ever Section 1 woohoo thank you for the sites they are very interesting

hmmm well i know that you can probubly find some coaching in your area. you just have to go about finding it thats the hard part. then you get to be your schools first good vaulter. most important thing is finding some one that can help you learn to vault the right way then you dont have to worry about picking up bad habbits.

bad habits can hurt you in the vault..I mean literally I learned to plant crooked and getting on a 13'3 was scary stuff..
