I need some tips

Unread postby Benjamin1205 » Sun May 02, 2004 3:41 pm

I am a junior and i go to Lakeville school. I polevault but i have no coach or anything so i dont know what i do wrong. Someone told me i was suposed to jump before i planted my pole, is that true? Right now i am using a 13.5 foot pole and i have vaulted 13 feet before. I want to vault 15 feet this year, is that possible using a 13.5 pole? Should i lift weights, would that help me vault higher, or should i just keep practicing? Another problem with my plant is that i always bend my left arm alot when i plant my pole in the pit. Could it be because i weigh 150 lbs and im vaulting on a 160 lb pole and my arm automatically bends because the pole is too stiff? Could someone give me a few tips that will help me vault higher?

I think you should spend a lot of time watching videos of other people pole vaulting to help you understand the vault better.

There are lots of great websites with pole vault videos.

i think you should get a coach

*way to state the obvious*

if you cant get one.. look around for camps
courtney christine..

so the good news is that you don't have ADD.. the bad news is that you have 4 months to live.
well it's 4:30 and this was a very short practice.
are you calling me fat?

yea i agree with squali to get a coach. i mean, learning it online and getting some pointers is good, but having a coach would point out mistakes easily and actually there watching. my school doesn't have a coach, but just organized a group to going to a pv session which was really helpful.

another useful site is: http://www.pvei.com
