Pushing up while planting

Unread postby Ins0mnizac » Sun Apr 25, 2004 5:26 pm

i was wondering what you guys think about how long you push up after the plant, it looks like when i watched a video of scott duckworth it looked like he was pushing up untill he was almost inverted. I think my problem is i push up at the plant then collapse my arm where i think i need to swing up (which is right after the initial plant.)

Hes probably not thinking about pushing up that long, yet staying down and being patient. You are probably getting in a hurry to turn up, if you stay down on it good that arm wont break in so early.

The whole deal about pushing the left arm is way misconstrued. At first, the left arm has a little bit of pressure, but once you start your swing, it really does nothing....all the weight should be on the top hand. It looks like people press the arm while they are swinging, but in reality they don't. It is a continuation of everything they did prior to that phase. Keep working plant position and take-off and it will come. Get the plant up high, and let the chest lead.....like saraf said, punch the bottom arm so that you can get your body weight BETWEEN your hands. Pole vaulting is like the alphabtet; A is always before B and C is always after B. Think of it that way and that should speed your progress up quite a bit
Retain faith that you will prevail in the end, regardless of the difficulties.
