Vaulting so far

Unread postby C-townvault » Fri Mar 19, 2004 11:21 pm

Just checking in to see where everyone is at so far in the season.
We got our first polevault practice today. Very interesting experience. Last year we had two guys that polevaulted this year i think we have 6 others besides myself. Nice 3 hour practice  I was able to get some short run vaults in on a 13'6" 180 Pacer , the old candy cane version. 5 lefts only weighing 165 lbs. didn't get a chance to put up a bungee but felt good so far.

My season, all two months of it, is so far awesome! With a month and a half still to go, I've won all of my h.s. meets, so yay for me lol! But what's really exciting is that today I jumped in a meet at FSU and got 4th with 11'9.75- new PR and county record YAY! The people who beat me (granted it was by a lot lol) were Amy Linnen, Andrea Dutoit, and Lacy Jansen. Two professionals and an NCAA champ, I'd say I did alright for a jr. in h.s. lol. Hope eveyone else off to a good start too!

our pits aren't out yet and for some reason our coach won't get them out for another 2 weeks.

Tell him to make sure and not get out the hurdles, the starting blocks, the discuses and shot puts, or uncover the long jump pits. Oh and put away the batons!
That's Jodie!!

A scripture that makes me think of all you girls and guys pole vaulting....

The Sovereign LORD is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to go on the heights.

Indoor went pretty good. I PRed at 12'10.25". Outdoor hasn't gone as well as planned, but it's still the beginning. I have Texas Relays next weekend so I'm looking for good things there!

13' 135 spirit (warm up)
13' 140 zebra pole (warm up)
13' 145 mystic (warm up)
14' 125 spirit
14' 130 spirit
14' 135 spirit
14' 140 spirit

*all my grips are at least a foot down from the label

all the meets i've had so far this season i've been blowing through poles and i didn't realize it, but tomorrow i will be ready because i am carrying along an extra 14' 145 spirit and a 14' 150 spirit. i am hoping to go 12' tomorrow.
