When knocing down the bar on the way up, do you move the standards forward or backward? It's just the opposite when you hit the bar on the way down?

I generally keep my kids' standards all the way back all the time, and adjust their grip so that they clear the bar with the standards deep.

But when you knock the bar down on your way down, then what do you do because their standards are all the way back and their hands are at the top of the pole?

The higher the grip, the slower the pole moves. The lower the grip, the faster it moves.

If they are landing on top of the bar, I lower the grip.

If they are knocking it off on the way up, hands at the top of the pole, standards all the way back, landing deep, then it's probably time for a stiffer or longer pole.
