As a sophmore who has been jumping for 2/3 months, I would like to know what benchmarks I should be hitting and when to eventually get to 11 1/2-12 feet as a senior and possibly a junior. So far, I've cleared 9 feet and gotten close to 9 6 and 10.
Thank you,
A.J.

Try: 10', 10'6", 11', 11'6", 12', etc.
There are no secrets, there is no magic.
There is no reason why you couldn't jump 12'+ THIS season if you put in enough intelligent hard work.

If you are an average high school boy of average height, weight, and speed, I would think to jump 12' you would probably be gripping around 12'6 on a 13' pole that is 10lbs over your body weight.
That's not a hard and fast rule, but unless you are well over 6' tall, I wouldn't go to anything longer than a 13' pole until you can jump 12'.
Just keep working on carrying your maximum speed into a nice tall plant. You want to be fully extended before the pole tip hits the back of the box.

Stretched up as tall as you can with your top arm fully extended and on the ball of your foot right before the pole slides into the back of the box. Compare video of the elites to videos of mediocre high school kids.
