Hugging The Pole

I'm having trouble with holding the pole out in of front of me after I take off. Instead I pull the left arm in and hug the pole instead of pushing them both out in front of me. I think my brain can't get round the fact that you don't need to 'cling on' for dear life!!

I guess if your top arm is pushed out, up & forward then that would create a space and so take away the temptation to cling with the left arm??!

Any ideas

Here's the drill: at a pit, 3 strides, real plant (not shoulder carry or pushed on the ground), take-off with an accent on your bottom arm not caving in, no swing, stay behind the pole and ride the pole into the pit.

Thanks

Sure! However, make SURE you don't train your arm to block/force bend. Just keep the pole from getting to your face.
