-Mcminkz you said running.. I run long distance when i dont have basketball practice because i also run xc. But is distance running bad for PV - just wondering

ok, well heres my opinion. Distance runing, if your crazy enough to do it int he first place, wont really hurt the vault if you dont do too MUCH distance, and try to incorporate some speed. Like i had to sit out of football this year, so i ran XC, but I was careful not to do too muhc milage, and i ran kinda in bursts, rather than one slow pace the whole time. did it help me? after XC my 40 time improved by .4 (whihc is allot).. maybe im jus weird, or i was slow and outta shape last year, lol.. but sprinting is usually best.
What have you done today to get better?

Is speed important for pole vaulting? Yes. Is strength important for pole vaulting? Of course. So work on it! But bottom line, if you're a 7' something vaulter and want to get better at pole vaulting, you need to pole vault. If you can't vault until spring at your school, do some searching on the net for any pole vault clubs http://www.polevaultpower.com/network/ you could travel to and jump with or other schools that might have a pit set up you could practice at. Camps are great too. Buy some videos - Skysystems 4 is great for a beginning vaulter - http://www.vaultstuff.com/

Good luck!
