If you can get video of your vault or if you can have someone with a good "eye" watch you when you vault, then check for these two things first. Moving your grip down is not a desired goal. First, make sure that you aren't getting lazy with your plant. Make sure that your arms are fully extended and straight up above your head. Second, make sure you are driving off of the ground (jumping upward) when you take off. It is easy to get into a comfort zone and forget those fundamental things. If you do these two things well, you may find that you can move your grip up and still make the pit!!!

I dont think the pole is to big I moved from a 14' to the 13'7" and I was at the top of both... I moved down a size to get a bigger bend on the smaller pole (it's way more flexible). I'm going to a camp at USM in Maine, off topic : Is anyone else on the forum from maine?
Edit: I just saw that PVgoalie101 is. anyone else?....Im from Waterboro, so I jump for Massabesic

Hey man, you need to realize that a softer pole is in no way better. I would take a pole that bends only 40 degrees than one that bends 90 degrees, because basically its stored energy in the pole. If its really soft, it only means its not going to release as fast with you on the end of it, while a stiffer pole will throw you a lot more at the top. I would deffinitly go back to the 14' pole if you can get into the pit with it. Use the 13'7 to practice your swing in practice.Maine Vaulter wrote:I dont think the pole is to big I moved from a 14' to the 13'7" and I was at the top of both...
