i was just wondering what would be a good transition for a person using a 13 165 to a 14 foot pole, my coach thinks im ready to move to a higher grip but all we have is a stiff 14 150 so we have to either borrow or trade for a better pole so any suggestions would be a big help.
oh yeah i jumped 12' on the 13 pole and had good attempts at 12'6 and i weigh 148

Actually, a 14' 150 would be about perfect. A 13' 165 is relatively the same pole as a 14' 145 at the same handgrip, so the next pole would be a 14' 150. 10lbs less per six inches more of pole gives you the equivalent pole. Granted raising your grip makes the pole easier to bend, but it will decrease pole speed, which is the name of the game, finding perfect pole speed via grip height and proper stiffness with all things being equal.
Equivalent poles to a 13' 165: 13'6 155, 14' 145, 14'6 135
The next pole: 13' 170, 13'6 160, 14' 150, 14'6 140
