Hi, I am a Junior in high school and I have decide to participate in track and field this spring. I was thinking about doing pole vault and i was wondering if I would be any good at.
I'm about 5'9"-5'10" and about 155
I consider myself pretty athletic, (sports since a child) I also play football for my high school.
I believe I have above average speed. Not the fastest but faster than most.
I am just asking if I would be good at this and If I would be able to learn how to do it quickly so I don't waste half the season trying to learn.
Also what are some things I can do in the winter to better prepare myself for pole vaulting

Re: beginning to vault
The best thing you can do is see if there are any clubs/camps/clinics near you. The pole vault has a lot of technique involved, and if you can get a head start on learning it, you'll be in much better shape for the track season.
