The loudest cheers of the day came during the pole vault. Madison's Max Hansen was locked in a tough contest with Blackfoot's Sam Hilliam. The bar kept rising, and Hilliam reached his personal best of 12-6, but Hansen just kept going. He hit 15 feet, and wanted 15-7, the school record.

Before his first attempt, he got the crowd going by encouraging it to start clapping. He missed his attempts, but it certainly got the crowd going.
