Missouri Vaulters
Not to be stealing any of the thunder away from the Illinios thread, but I was just wondering if there are any vaulters from Missouri out there and if so what part, school, heights, all that good stuff.... share as much as you please.

Anyone can vault here! If you're willing to show up for practice, you're on the team. We do have a lot of good guys right now, so you might not get to go to every single meet, but you'll definitely get a chance. Plus a number of the guys will be graduated by the time you come in. Top 6 get to compete at conference, we have lots of home meets, and especially outdoors we go to lots of meets everyone can compete in.
Lane is an awesome coach, and we have a really great group of vaulters.
As far as being close to home... it's all what you make of it. If you go home every weekend you won't really be getting the full experience, but a really good chunk of the track team is not from the area (therefore does not disappear on weekends).

Yeah I understand what you mean about making the best of the situation. It is just really hard when the parents can just swing by at anytime without warning because I am literally 15-20 min. from the campus at the moment.
I do however like hearing about how anyone can be on the team and that 6 can go to the conference meet. I would just enjoy the chance to vault anywhere with a decent coach and facility because right now I lack a coach and our school does not posess a pit of our own. So therefore Iget to practice about once a week at another schools facilities after they are through using it. It really kind of sucks, but I am making the best of it because I love the sport. It would also be great to be somewhere with more then 2 poles to use. (one is a blow through from 6 steps and the other difficult to get on from 14 steps, especially like tonight with a strong headwind) haha
But like I said I am addicted to the sport and would enjoy the oppurtunity to vault anywhere. I just read that and sorry that sounds like I am complaining and I didn't mean for it to come out that way.

where are you from RidinHigh? You have to be just a hop skip and jump away from me: I'm only about 15 min from Lindenwood. (And I have the same too close to home thing going on too) I'm at FHN, vault 9-9, am a senior, and am going to attend UMR next fall. (They've got a good coach...they've got an all-american guy vaulter there right now, he's a senior though)
