A day of vaulting, music, swimming, food, and pole vaulting friends!
The Marina Vault was organized as a tribute to my brother. We had the first Marina Vault 13 years ago and after Dave passed away eight years ago, I wanted to continue to host this event in his memory.
Food and drink will be available for sale all day by Uncle Moe's Soul Food and, of course, the ever popular "Lake Vaulting" (free and open to everyone of any age) where you vault off of the dock next to the vaulting area into Lake Heritage.
POLE VAULT COMPETITION
The event will be run by Steve Gorman (master's vaulter), Rob Wahl (pole vault coach at Altoona Area High School and PA State Chairperson for the national pole vault committee), Matt Concannon of the Vaultworx Pole Vault Club. The event will be officiated by Mike Lily, a long time NFHS and PIAA pole vault official.
Entry fee is $30 with on-site registation beginning at 7:30AM and continuing all day!
You will need to register and sign the liability release form, but you do not need a USATF or AAU card. If the participant is under the age of 18, a parent/guardian must also sign the waiver.
Marina Vault T-shirts will also be available for sale the day of the event for $5! First come first served!
Warm-ups begin as soon as you are registered. Competition begins at 9:00AM. The starting height is 5' 6" and the bar will progressively move upwards with both women/girls and men/boys vaulting together.
There will be multiple warm-up periods for vaulters not starting until higher heights. Safety first!

Standard NFHS pole vault rules apply for youth and USATF open rules for adults with ONE EXCEPTION! The Gorman Buy-In Rule! What is this? After three consecutive misses you will be allowed a 4th competitive attempt if you donate a $5.00 re-jump fee, If you clear you are back in the event! If you miss, well there is always Lake Vaulting, swimming, food, etc.!
Our experience from past years is that height progressions move slowly due to the large number of young vaulters and the additional "buy in" jumps. It will be late morning before the crossbar gets to 10' and around 2PM until we reach the 12' range. Registration runs all day so you can time your arrival accordingly. There will be "open runways" at different intervals throughout the day for all of the competitors.
The separate "Elite Vault" will begin after the conclusion of the day's earlier vaulting competition with a starting height of 13' 0" with an expected start time of around 6:00PM. There will be a separate warm-up period for this vaulting event.
BRING LAWN CHAIRS, SUN SCREEN, SWIM SUITS, AND LOTS OF $5.00 BILLS!
Additional information can be found on the Marina Vault Facebook page!
