GREENVILLE -- A clear, breezy Saturday afternoon saw two state records fall in the Diamond State Relays at A.I. du Pont High School.

"I was really happy I did it," said Caravel's Kelly Strickland, who boosted the girls pole vault record to 10 feet, 8 inches. The previous record of 10-7 was set last year by Caesar Rodney's Jennifer Johnson.

"I was hoping to do a little better because I have the indoor record, too, and that's 11 feet. It was a windy day, but that's OK," said Strickland, who started pole vaulting only last year.
