Jessica Sullivan of the Norwich Free Academy became the first Connecticut High School Girl ever to pole vault 11'0" indoors tonight at the Wesleyan Developmental Meet in Middletown, CT. Sullivan, a senior, who decided to forego competing in gymnastics this season to pole vault instead, cleared 11'0" on her final attempt. She just brushed the bar on her way over, but it stayed steady with only a slight wobble on the pegs. She received a well-deserved round of applause from the appreciative crowd. Sullivan then had the bar raised and took three good attempts at 11'3". Daniella Ponte, of Torrington, held the previous highest mark by a Connecticut High School girl at 10'6".
