Thull's leap makes him the #1 CT high school vaulter of all time. Ken Appel of Amity vaulted 15-5 back in 1975.
Thull made three good atttempts at 16-0 as daylight faded.
Jordan, the reigning New England High School Champion, will be a senior at East Lyme High School this year (i.e., starting next week).
He was jumping on a 15-165 Pacer FX, using a 14-4 handgrip. Do the math, that's a 13-8 "effective handgrip". So his 15-6 vault was 1 foot 10 inches above his handgrip! That's a boy who's beginning to figure out technique!

Meanwhile Jessica Sullivan of Norwich Free Academy (Norwich, CT) and Avery Ringquist of Hall High School (West Hatrtford, CT) both cleared 10-3 in the high School girls division of the Vaultarama. 10-3 was only 3 inches below the PR for both girls. Sullivan and Ringquist are the two top returning Connecticut high school girls. Sullivan won the 2005 Class LL title (10-0), was third at the State Open (10-6), and 6th at New Englands (10-0). She will be a junior this year at NFA. Ringquist placed second to Sullivan at the Class LL meet (10-0), but won the State Open Championhip (10-6).
