Delaware Vaulters? (MD and Southern PA check out too)

Unread postby USMC Vaulter » Mon Mar 21, 2005 1:18 pm

Are there any other vaulters from Delaware on this site???

Looking for some guys/gals who might want to get together to vault and/or go to some competitions this summer. Possibly to start a USATF sanctioned club.

**Original post was in the New England region**
I've posted this in Northeast region in case any Maryland/Southern PA vaulters are interested in joining in.

Thanks for the interest.
I'm stationed a little south of Baltimore so I spend a fair amount of time there as well.
Well, when I'm actually in the country...
But anyway - I'm also working on starting up a USATF 'sanctioned' club. I'm just trying to increase awareness of the vault in our area and get guys and gals together with the same interests. Mainly going to be a Delaware thing - but during the summer we'd probably be training down by the beach (where my family is from :) ) so who wouldnt want an excuse to go to the beach! Who knows, maybe we'd even be able to hold a beach or boardwalk vault down there (DE) next summer. Any ideas or input is always appreciated.
Thanks

Delaware is awesome dude! My uncle lives in Lewes, and I had a blast there and in Ocean City, MD.

Yeah man - its nuts. They start breeding and raising lacross players by the time their 5 years old where I'm from. Yet some schools cant even get 5 decent guys/gals to try out for the vault.... terrible

Awesome man - Lewes Beach is where I went to high school. And yeah, Ocean City MD is really tight too - thats why I was thinking having a vault competition on the boardwalk there would be sweet (theres also a boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach Delaware). And if those didnt work - there are private beaches in Lewes that would only require the permission of the home owners to hold a meet there.

Now I've just got to get enough people together to make some of this work...

Dude, if you do it, I'm there! Hung out in Lewes last summer and had a blast! Been to Rehobeth too! If you get a Boardwalk Vault there, I'll try and bring as many vaulters of mine as I can to help support you (I coach about 60-80 people right now!) Road trip!!!

Ok - so a quick update on the new club I'm starting.
(Also posted in the New England section)

The website domain and everything is good to go, just waiting for the site to be finished before I upload it (I'm personally not the one designing it).
The application for the club has been sent off to the USATF so I'm just waiting for their approval before an official announcement is sent out.
Also, I should be ordering the roll out runway for the pit at my house by weeks end, so the whole set up there should be finished soon.

I think those are all the updates for now. Any tips or advice or input are more than welcome if you have them.

At the moment just about everything is coming out of my own pocket :( lol

Its all good - I love vaulting and really want to help promote the sport in my local area.
Here's what I've got/done so far:
The website domain and hosting for a year
The Club registration fees for the next 2 years
All the video editing equipment we'll use at club practices (digital camera, my SWEET Mac, editing software - just upgraded to produce in HD as well)
VaultBrad hooked me up with the pit (my 2 brothers and girlfriend made the 8 hour drive to get them ) Check out this pic - http://community.webshots.com/photo/288 ... 9239tTRsTv
Runway will be ordered by the end of the week (my bank account is crying lol)
A small collection of poles that I hope will be growing soon.
Random accessories (bungies, tape, chalk, etc)

Once everything is established and organized there will probably be some club dues to help with random costs (travel expenses for meets/poles/etc)

CHC04Vault - I dont need any money right now - thanks for the offer - but if you could help spread the word about the new club and consider joining yourself that would be awesome :)
We need as much support as we can get.

Well the facility that we're setting up right now is in southern Delaware (about 10 minutes from Lewes Beach/Rehoboth Beach) But the club will probably be going to practices and meets throught the Delaware/MD/PA/southern Jersey area. We'll probably be practicing down by the Delaware shore most weekends this summer.
