Freshman heights
Cornwall ninth-grader Adrienn LaChance apparently is a quick learner. She took up the pole vault in September, and in her seventh meet, the Suffern Invitational on Monday, she set the state freshman record with a leap of 10 feet, 10 inches. Lindsey Rosales of Washingtonville set the previous mark of 10-6 in 2000 (she still owns the eighth-grade mark of 9-6). Looking ahead: The state records are 12-2 for sophomores, 13-0 for juniors and 14-2 for seniors.
