At least the city, state, a name of some sort and an email address should be posted to yield credibility to the poster. Maybe an email check before any posting can occur??? How about joining the site only by referral? Or having referances from other members coaches, vaulters, to establish that you are who you are?
There already is an email verification process before anyone can post (I turned this on last spring sometime, so you who have been here awhile weren't subject to it). You have to have a real email.
I am not going to keep those poor kids who only have access at the library from posting. I have an abundance of moderators on here, and I am on here constantly, to keep things from getting ugly.
I am not going to require people to reveal who they are, except to me. You do have to tell me who you are if I ask, but you don't have to tell the whole board. Credibility is earned. Anyone who is anonymous is going to have less credibility.
I do not allow people to join the board for the sole purpose of bashing others. I allowed this thread to remain up because I did not feel like it was a personal attack on Danielle or the HIP facility.
If someone breaks a record and sets a nation leading mark, that mark is subject to scrutiny. Yeahh right did their research. Did they prove the mark was not legit? No. Did they prove there might be a reason to verify the mark? Yes.
I also do not see any evidence that yeahh right is in any way stalking Danielle, as another poster suggested. Everything they posted is available online. Danielle has jumped in meets such as Reno where everyone can see her jump.
I also did not feel that the posts met the legal definitions of libel or defamation of character. Yeahh right did not knowingly post false information and they did not show a reckless disregard for the truth in the facts they posted.
I am sure the mark will be verified soon and it won't be an issue. Better yet, Danielle will jump 13 feet somewhere else. She's entered in lots of big meets and will have plenty of chances to prove herself. It's still January!
