Two time defending State Champion, DJ Horton can add another accolade to his pole vaulting credentials and this one is pretty special. This past Saturday, at Franklin field in Philadelphia in front of approximately 30,000 spectators DJ Horton accomplished something that most high school track athletes can only dream about and that is win an event at The Penn Relays. He did so by clearing 15’9â€

It looks like he didn't get any offers ...

I was interested in reading this because of my interest in 6P's Sr. year quest.
Looks like 6P's on the money - a half-athletic scholarship for 15-6. The coach will be banking on 6P's attitude, determination, perseverance, and all those other intangibles besides 16'+. 6P is like the trusty mailman ... thru rain, sleet, snow ...

At 5-9, 150 pounds, Horton knew that football, as much as he loved it, wasn't going to pay for his education. Vaulting would take care of that.
Wouldn't it?
"Well, nobody is really recruiting me," Horton said. "Akron has called. But that's just about it."
It's hard to emphasize how shocking this is. Consistent 14-footers get looks. Consistent 15-footers get calls, letters and offers, if often a partial scholarship.
A 16-footer is treated like a lower-case god. Usually.
"I don't know what the problem is," said Horton, who said his grades are fine. "My dad has been all over the Internet, visiting recruiting sites, getting video out. It just hasn't happened yet."

what!?!?!?
thats pretty ridiculous. Berry goes 16'6" and goes to Tennessee and Horton goes 16' and gets a call from Akron? I know Berry was more consistant but wow.
