How did Quiller get to vault at Millrose? His best jump in 09 was 5.50m in Reno! The guys that were all at Millrose had PB's of 5.70m! I think that is kind of BS for a 5.50 guy to jump in such a great meet like Millrose! At this point it shouldn't be who you know to get into the best meets, it should be the best get into the best!

Do not fault the vaulter and put him down. He is a good vaulter. Fault the Millrose officials or who ever invited the vaulter.

Who gets invited to big meets has a lot more to do with who has the best agent than who most deserves to be there. Meet directors also like to fill their fields with athletes who they think will best meet the needs of the meet (which doesn't always mean having the best possible field from place 1 through 8).

Rory lives in New York, so he probably didn't cost them anything to get into the meet, and local athletes get more butts in the stands. He is also a very talented athlete who has performed well at the elite level in the past and I think will get back up there soon.

He took second at the 2008 Indoor USA nationals, beating Stevenson and Miles. Walker jumped 6.04 but NH's at the olympics in 2008. PR is not everything. -6P

yeah rory has a pr of 5.65, he was signed with asics, has a great manager, and is a local kid having gone to school in New York. On top of that hes a great personable guy and fun to watch compete. I was psyched to see him get in!

He also has a very unique jump, which tends to get attention. Even if you aren't an AR holder, if your jump looks cool enough, you'll get more viewers. And it's not like hes a low 17' vaulter.... he has jumped 18"6". Hes no slouch.

Purely logistics. No expense to the meet. No airfare, local drive. No hotel. And to think, No prize money. He simply was just a local body.
