dana ellis 4.52 canadian record...toby and derek miles 5.70

Unread postby old vaulter » Sat Aug 18, 2007 10:56 pm

great meet at the olympic center today in chula vista...Dana kicked it off with a great series and a good clearance over 4.52 meters for a new canadian national record and then it got fun...Toby cleared 5.30 with an homage to T. Mack and then 5.50 with an homage to Tye Harvey before clearing a seasonal best(I think) 5.70 on his first jump right after derek cleared on his first as well...Both had great jumps at 5.80 but it was a great day with a good crowd

Nice job.

Dana was left off of Canada's team for the WC. Good job Canada.

Do you have the official results?

As for the World Canada Team, our country is sending 29 athletes as well as 16 staff members so they didn't have any place for vaulters I guess... They prefer to bring out 6 relay guys instead of more individual athletes. It sucks, I know...

We sure hope to be able to change this over the coming years...

why limit the team so much? lack of budget? lack of support?

Athletics Canada has a ton of insane requirements for making teams. It's not enough to have a standard, you have to jump certain heights before certain dates, and again after certain dates, and they can't all be in the same place, etc etc.
