Was also thinking Davis...certainly would have caused shock waves.

Well... assuming we arent being made jackasses of, you have to understand that this guy is vaulting 5.60m after a few months of training following 9 years off.

There is a SHORT SHORT list of people capable of that, and the last one I could think of was just disproved.

I think we are getting our legs pulled here...

I am a very real person. Do not doubt that.

I've not been sitting on my hands all these years. I've been coaching the vault for over 8 years now, just not been training seriously. An opportunity arose and I seized it. Please don't question my sincerity.

I absolutely love the fact that you are getting back into it, and love reading your blog! I wish you all the best and hopefully will see you in Eugene! I personally hope to finally jump what I am capable of jumping! I would love to know how you are doing and what you are doing to train your way to an Olympic Trials birth! PM me if you want to keep me more updated with how things are going. Thanks again for all that you are doing, and good luck with your season!

If you were trying to keep it on the down low, would you tell the first person that calls you on it? Hmm...

There's plenty of examples of athletes coming back from complete inactivity...Dave Volz was out for years doing absolutely nothing and and in one season equaled his PR of 5.80 to make the 88 Olympic Team. Erin Aldrich was out from HJing for 4 years and jumped around 6'4" first time back right at her PR. It happens.

Also, there's a lot to be said for being healthy for the first time. Maybe vaultmd can share some stories about that. He has some examples of athletes who have improved solely because of time off and a decrease in training.

okay so can u confirm some details here, perhaps if we condense this it will make more sense

you last jumped seriously in 2000
your were a "great" collegiate D1 jumper (can u specificy all american?)
you jumped in no indoor meets this year
1 outdoor with a zero, opening at 5.50
you have kids
your not arkel, mr. polevault, brian hunter, or jacob davis

am i missing anything pertinent

my guess is Professor Plum, in the kitchen, with the rope

p.s. can you tell us if you have ever been at an ncaa meet that you didn't warm up for, but still jumped in. haha.

LivintheDream,

Please don't take offense to my last post,I certainly didn't mean any. You have to see that with all the mystery and a fast approaching April 1st, it seemed like a feasible and well thought out joke was a definite possibility.

I don't doubt your sincerity. I hope you jump high and achieve your dreams. I think you have come to the right place in that almost everyone on here wishes they can someday do the same. As a first-year post-collegiate, I understand how difficult it is to train, so I can only imagine.

Good luck!
