The webcasters mentioned that some wiring troubles contributed to the lack of video in the pole vault (and the crappy angle we did have).

Sometime in the late 90s there was one where all but 2 or 3 guys NH'd since they were jumping in a 20MPH headwind and the officials wouldn't flip the pit.

I'm surprised we didn't have anybody clear or attempt 19 feet. Were the conditions poor?

Gusty, swirly cross-wind. It was definitely a challenge, look at how many guys NH'd at 5.35 :dazed:

It was actually a straight south tailwind very gusty at times. Other a couple of vaulters the guys seemed slow to me including my son. Jeremy Scott actually looked real good, just bad luck with the bar staying up.

USATF Release:

Hollis wins Gill Men's Pole Vault

Two-time NAIA champion Mark Hollis captured his first national Gill Men's Pole Vault title this evening with his winning clearance of 5.60m/18-4.50, which is the identical height he conquered in winning the 2010 Millrose Games in New York City.

Finishing as the runner-up was 2008 Olympic Games fourth-place finisher Derek Miles, who had a best clearance of 5.60m/18-4.50. Jason Colwick finished third at 5.50m/18-0.50.
