Lodi High School celebrated a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil its new portable pole vault shed Wednesday.

The Flames, who are one of the top girls pole vaulting schools in the Sac-Joaquin Section, received a $7,500 donation from the Lodi Lions Club and a $5,000 gift from the Lodi Flame Foundation that covered the entire purchase

Current school record holder Samantha Weaver, who signed with the University of Hawaii, and California junior college champion Jill Schlenker, who will vault for Sacramento State next year, both attended the ceremony.

Two former boys record holders in the pole vault, Tony Hayworth and Vance Roget, were also there for the ceremony as were former coaches Steve Scott and Jim Sowers and current coach Greg Wright.
