Zack and I are working on previews for the State Meets this weekend in WA.

Good luck to everyone this weekend! Lots of Pole Vault Power members will be competing or coaching. I will be in Cheney with the small schools, helping the King's kids. PVP mods Ashcraftpv and Robert Schmidt will be in Pasco for the 3A meet. Doria Holbrook, the girl in the upper left corner of your screen will be competing in 4A. And the list goes on and on... good luck!!

Here are Zack's predictions for the 3A/4A. I will post mine soon, for all classifications.

For 4A guys is Uhlenkott, Loomis, Powell and Mckane will be battling. McKane is supposedly much faster (not too hard to do for him) so he should be able to get on his bigger sticks. Powell could be dangerous after putting up 15-7 early in the season and he will be fresh because he won't
be running the 100.

4 of the top 8 from state last year are back. All have jumped 12-3 or better! I wouldn't be surprised to see a new state record here. No one else is close to the top 4 as number five in 4A has jumped 11-0. Enders is the best athlete of the group and the defending state champion. She won't give up the title easily. Holbrook could easily have a big day and win too. And then theres Marshalek who has the highest jump all-time in the state but was only 3rd at state last year. Should be a battle in sunny Pasco.

DJ Brown is the clear favorite but it seems like Thomas Seely just keeps jumping higher with a new PR of 15-6. After these two it will be a tight battle for the remaining spots on the podium. DJ Brown also gets most improved after jumping just 14-9 last year. Still has tons of potential too.

This was the first competition of the day. It was cloudy and cool, but we all figured it would burn off and warm up later. Too bad the opposite happened

Some good jumping all around. My King's girl, Tiffany Dillow, pulled her hamstring at districts. She cleared 2 heights, but it got so bad, she was really limping after each jump. Didn't quite clear 8-0, but quite a performance. All heart girl!

3rd place, Jessie DePell got 2 PRs, clearing 9-6. She is Jake DePell's (last year's 1A champ) little sister. She has an awesome takeoff, already on 13' poles, and just starting to swing. She could be awesome next year, so watch out!

2nd place, Brittany Navarre, got a PR, clearing 9-9. She is a total sweetheart, I hope she gets to vault in college next year.

1st place was Audrea Nolan. She looked great, clearing 9-0, 9-9, 10-0, 10-6, to break the meet record. She tried to move up poles to clear 11-1, but just wasn't getting in the pit deep enough.

Weather just kept getting colder as the day progressed...

OK first of all these results are wrong... Brianna "only" cleared 10-0... which was a huge PR for her. She PR'd twice, clearing 9-9 and 10-0. And she straight poles!

Stephanie looked really good. She cleared 10-9 easily to tie the meet record. Didn't put together the same jump at 10-10 though. A great meet either way, as she defends her title.

So it started to sprinkle at the end of the 2A girls. The B girls started to warm up... and it started to sprinkle harder... and harder... until it was really raining. Everyone warmed up, and we delayed the PV by 20 minutes, in hope things would calm down.

Nope.

We started anyway. Got from 5-6 to 6-6. It got ugly. We delayed it until tomorrow morning.

Did I mention I was wearing SHORTS all day?! The weather forecast was for 85 degress and partly cloudy! I was soo hot yesterday. Not today. My back is tight as a board from shivering all day.

I should have listened to my coaches... they say pack for a blizzard and bring sunscreen I packed fine... and left it all in the dorms we are staying at

So I am getting up early tomorrow for the B Girls. Your trust PVP moderator, Robert Schmidt, had to head over to Pasco for the 3A girls, so I am helping the Mt. Vernon Christian girls!

OK today was an interesting day, and this was an interesting competition. The 2 girls who cleared 6-0, did so outdoors. One of the 6-6 girls was indoors, the other was out. Everyone else was indoors.

Yes, we moved all of today's pole vaulting indoors! At 7am, it was still crummy weather, so all of the pole vault stuff was moved into the fieldhouse at Eastern.

First order of business was to finish the B Girls. I was not helping at this one because I was coaching the MVC girls (since Robert had to leave).

Well they both did awesome!! Carmen PR'd twice and ended up third on misses. Brittny won with her second best jump ever. They scored a lot of points for their team which ended up winning

The second place girl, Megan, also PR'd twice

I was glad I didn't screw them up! Robert, you did an awesome job of coaching them this year

What a great day in the pole-vault, all the girls jumped great.

Here are the 2A Boys results. I was the pole catcher for this competition.

Evan pulled off the easy victory over Joel Omlin. He had a great 2nd attempt at a meet record, 15-6. He was easily a foot over... but also a foot in front and came down on it.

Adam Redmond had a nice 9" PR to get 2nd place

I was really impressed by the crowd that came up to the fieldhouse to watch this. It was hard being indoors and missing the rest of the state track meet, but it was cool to know how many people were most interested in the pole vault.
