Is the 8' by 10' landing zone supposed to be 24" from the top of the box or 36"?

The Standerds can't be more than 18" and no more than 36" deep?

Thank You for your help.

Your coach should know this like the back of his hand, but here's an extract from a web site.

1. The landing pad shall have an 8’x10’ target zone called the "preferred landing zone" sewn or painted with 2-4" wide stripes on the top pad. This rectangle shall begin 3’6" behind the zero line when the landing pad is set in its proper position. The purpose of the "preferred landing zone" is to offer coaches and vaulters a guide for safe, efficient landings.

I would say the key prase is when the landing pad is set in it's proper position. It shifts all the time and should be adjusted as needed.

Standards positioning for NFHS is 40cm to 80cm (or approximately 15-1/2" to 31-1/2")
