PORTLAND, Ore. ---- The Rainier boys and girls both defeated Vernonia, Catlin Gabel, and host Oregon Episcopal in Thursday's track. Rainier finished one-two-three-four in the 100 meters, led by Hazze Walker with a time of 11.9 seconds. Walker also won the high jump in 5 feet, 8 3/4 inches and the long jump in 20-3. Alan Ott took the 200 in 24.1, Brandon Staehely the pole vault in nine feet flat, and Carl Schiedler the triple jump in 38-1.
Jordan Clarke, Ashley Ade, Kayla Nagunst, and Brittany Wright won the 400 relay in 54.40. Clarke (high jump, 4-6), Nagunst (400, 1:03.7, 200, 28.7), and Wright (long jump, 13-4) all had individual wins as well. Briana Gallaher took second in the 1500, and Beth Murphy won the javelin in 92-5.

Comets, Fishermen shine
ASTORIA ---- Erin Saari, Ryan Nortrup and Kyle Burkhalter highlighted Naselle's performance at the Daily Astorian Invitational track meet here Monday, and Matt Kaino was a standout for Ilwaco.
Team scores were not kept at the 10-team event.
Saari led the Naselle girls with a first-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 7 feet, 6 inches. Teammates Kelsey Fletcher (second in the 800, 2:41.9) and Jenny Klinger (second in the 3000, 13:07.3) also performed well, and Saari, Fletcher, Emily Green and Nicole Laney took third in the 1600 relay in 4:44.7.
For the Ilwaco girls, Kelly Freese was second in the 1500 in 5:30.03, and Bonnie Perez was second in the javelin (114-2) and 200 (29.34). The 1600 relay of Perez, Annika Wolters, Cameo Ulbricht and Melanie Bliss took second in 4:36.26.
Nortrup sparked the Naselle boys by winning the pole vault at 10-6, and Kyle Burkhalter won the triple jump at 39-0. Gabe See was third in the pole vault at 9-0, and See, Burkhalter, Nick Hines and Conor Smith took second in the 1600 relay in 3:57.9.
Kaino won the 400 meters in 52.22.
