I've jumped there several times, 1st in 1997, last in 2001. Good place to jump with excellent meet management and some of the best PV officiating I've seen. It's on my schedule but you never know.

A friend asked me once why we wait so late to enter important meets. My response, "we have to make sure we're not hurt". LOL!!

Happy New Year! Bubba

Hey guys, I am trying to plan for Boston right now. I couldn't put it all together to go to Linz so now I'm trying to set up for Boston. Does anyone have any ideas for housing that might be less expensive than the Marriott? I have no experience in or around Boston. Perhaps the rate quoted of $129 is just what a body has to pay, but I thought I would ask. I will be looking on the web to see if I can find any accommodations near the Reggie Lewis track. Are there any neighborhoods that should be avoided? Any local vaulters got any suggestions?

I think the $129 rate is pretty standard/good for Boston. The advantage to the meet hotel is they have shuttles to and from Reggie Lewis. If you post on the Masters Track Listserve too you might find someone looking for a roommate. As you know, I was last minute and stayed in the dorms in Hawaii since my wife couldn't get away. Something to think about. Bubba

$129 for that hotel in that part of town is DIRT CHEAP.

I'm still in no condition to jump . . .

vaultmd - Sorry to hear you're not well enough to jump. I appreciate the input about the price. I'm just an old guy from a small town that doesn't know much about life in the big cities. :dazed:

In addition to having a great price, the hotel is within staggering distance to Dick's Last Resort, as well as a few other cool places.

YES, the annual pilgrimage to d***s! WOW!! That's worth the trip. Its 20-30 masters vaulters and their wives and family getting a little crazy, but not as crazy as the hired help. Thanks for the reminder Wilson!! Bubba

Actually I'm pretty healthy now. I'm just real "soft".

The home theater system doesn't help conditioning, as I stay home instead of going to the gym. On the other hand, I don't ge to bars nearly as much as I used to.

I'll be there. It's essentially in my backyard.

I plan to be there. My sore spots are working themselves out a bit, so I am not feeling too bad. As long as I am still all together at the end of March I will be there. It will be my first Nationals in the 40-44 age group (am 41 now). I have not been back to Reggie Lewis in a few years.

I have been trying to change my technique a bit, so I am not really ready yet. Hopefully I will have it a bit better by then. I have been trying to get rid of driving the bottom - which I was taught back in the 80's. So, it could still be a bit ugly at Boston, but it will be fun.
