DBH027 - thanks for the information. In addition to that, I contacted Philip Greenwald, USA Team Manager, by email and he received the following from the WMA local organizing committee:

Dear Philip,
yes, there will be poles available. We will publish on our website some more information on this topic after checking all the details. I hope this will be latest mid of January.
If there is some input from athletes on needed specifications please let me know.
