National PV Club?
You heard it here first but it looks like I am about to move back to SoCal after 10 years in Texas. SoCal Track Club is a great club and I am considering joining but it occurred to me that we should as vaulters start a national club and see if a club of all vaulters could win national championships. Thoughts? I'm sure Becca will know something about these types of club membership rules. Bubba

Re: National PV Club?
USATF rules now allow (adult) athletes to join a club in any Association, but you generally can't count in team scored events like Club Nationals. Masters track nationals does have team scoring, but that meet is a joke, so I think you can represent whatever club there. (I don't know what the youth residency rules are, they don't matter for this discussion).
So the way the rules stand right now, a masters pole vaulter could join pretty much any track club and there wouldn't be much downside. You couldn't do it automatically though, you'd have to send out a few emails to get the transfer done.
Edit: let me add that if you rely on USATF liability insurance for practices you host or participate in, it would get more complicated.

Looking forward to seeing you back here, Doug. I hope you don't miss Houstonville too much. I know I do sometimes.

Thanks Wilson and Barefoot. Yes I will live in Dana Point and train with Simon Arkell at Saddleback. That said I'll show up to pretty much any meet from San Diego to Santa Barbara. Can't wait. Moving in on 10/31. Bubba

Bubba...
Give a shout when you are near the Ventura area... Other than that, your attendance in the stands at SS-CIF finals will be mandatory.
Good livin down there in Dana Point. Though we coulda used your services up in Northern LA, lotta high schoolers in need of some mentoring.

Re: National PV Club?
No worries Bubba. Just returning the favor after you got me going when I started back coaching. Without guys like you willing to lend an ear and some solid advice, this pole vault thing would be lot harder and a lot less fun.
San Onofre, Old Man's, is reporting waist to shoulder surf, glassy with bigger sets coming through at head high this morning. Just in case you needed some extra stoke for your move back to Cali! South Orange county is awesome for all things fiberglass.
