NORMAN, Okla. -- Martin Smith, who has coached five national championship teams during a 26-year tenure on the NCAA Division I level, is the new menÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s and womenÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s track and field and cross country coach at Oklahoma. OU Athletics Director Joe Castiglione made the announcement today.

Smith, 53, has been head cross country coach or head cross country and track and field coach at George Mason, Virginia, Wisconsin and, most recently, Oregon, where he was director of menÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s and womenÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s track and field and cross country from 2003 through March of this year when he resigned. He was menÃ¢â‚¬â„¢s track and field and cross country head coach at UO from 1998-2003 when he assumed control of all of the track and field and cross country programs.

He has been the head coach or an assistant for teams that combined for 24 conference championships, including the 2003 Pac-10 outdoor title he won with Oregon.

my bad its martin smith...my boyfriend's name is scott martin and i am retarded...anyways, he sounds like a great guy and i will have no problems as long as he hires my coach back!!

HEy jen,
I talked to Coach Smith yesterday and It seems to me like he has a few new prospects for a PV coach. I hope that TOm is one of those people!

He (Smith) is supposed to meet with Tom on wednesday of next week to discuss things, hopefully we will know something late next week...i just keep prayin'!!!

Coach Jill Lancaster is now the Head Women's coach and the assistant men's coach here at Troy University in Troy, AL. She will be in coach the sprinters, the jumpers, and pole vaulters how to develop and work on sprint mechanics.

Our last coach, Andrew McCampbell, is now a pharm. representative in TN.
