The United States Track Coaches Association announced that Tommy Skipper is the Indoor Regional Men's Athlete of the Year for the West Region.

Congrats Tommy!

yes tommy is deffinetly a great athleate and since he finaly learned how to vault i am thinking he is gunna go big this season outdoors

Finally learned how to vault...what do you mean. I think jumping 18' in high school means you know how to vault...you have to be a ways over your grip to get that high! But yes, everyone can use technical changes, and he has a made a lot. He is definately going to sky this year!

agreed. but hey that goes for a lot of us, he does run and takeoff like a world class vaulter and to me those are the two most important aspects of the vault. I think the overall message is he has a lot of room for improvement, like most of us.....

i think what people mean is

that there is a different between being a great vaulter and a great athlete. Honestly he got away with a lot because he was fast as sin and twice as strong.. over the last few years his technique has gotten amazingly better and thats why he doesn't show any signs of peaking. hes reaching that point where is technique is catching up to his physical attributes and man is he gonna jump high!!

I remember reading that Sergey still had a lot of room to improve, So i think we can cut everyone some slack. It will be a while before someone vaults a perfectly perfect vault, if even at all.

To me there have been people (1 or 2) who have became close to perfecting a jump, maximizing every little bit of energy possible energy the only problem is that they were a bit under 6'0 tall and not half as strong and fast as skipper....

Skippper is one of the fastest vaulters I have ever seen! I expect some big heights in his outdoor season

Hey Tommy, you should join the forum and tell us what you expect out of this outdoor season.

BTW, does anyone really know what the perfect vault is? There will always be improvements and the record will always be broken.
