Sidelined from jumping due to dislocated shoulder (fell off skateboard). Has this happened to anyone else, or does anyone know vaulters that this happened to. Its my first one, and im just freaking out that its gonna take forever to heal and when it does (doctors say 4 -6 weeks), its just gonna come out again when i plant. I popped it back in myself rite away, and now (three days later) i have full range of motion, and little soreness. What you guys think?

strenghten it as much as you can, seriosly. didnt dislocate mine but over time had torn my labrum vaulting creating damage akin to a very bad dislocation (my shoulder would pop out and right back in during vaults, very painful). hopefully yours will heal well enough so you can vault but i would recommend doing A LOT of strengthening exercises for your shoulder cuff. i just got surgery on mine so i could vault in college. I wish ya the best man.

I have a friend who dislocated it jumping, and had to miss his entire senior year in high school, cuz he didn't wait long enough for it to heal, and has gone through 2 surgeries now. So let it heal!! He can vault again here real soon, but don't make it that long of an injury by rushing back into it.

I'd go with whenever your trainers say you are ready.

yea, when the doctors say you can, and your dislocated shoulder is as strong as your non dislocated shoulder
most people say as long as that takes...and that is what I would do. Thats the way it should be with most injuries, but of course there are cases where you can come back and not irritate them, that of course is a risk, but you know how that goes...
