Violation of team rules costs Joe Berry trip to NCAA Indoor

Senior Joe Berry will not be part of Tennessee's contingent for the NCAA Indoor championships because of a violation of team rules, according to director of track and field J.J. Clark.

Tuesday's release from UT did not include a statement from Clark and it did not specify what team rule Berry broke.

Berry won the SEC title in the pole vault and it was the first time he had qualified for the NCAA Indoor. The two-day meet begins Friday in College Station, Texas.

I wonder what he did. must not have been something little for them to pull him out of his first and last indoor NCAA championship

Assuming Joe legitimately broke a team rule, and assuming the head coach is consistent in the way he enforces this rule, then it's not BS. I'm all for college coaches enforcing rules and having consequences for these rules (assuming they are fair about it).

Today is the time for everone to stand up and suffer the consequences of their actions. We need not try to justify what we do. If one knows the rules and breaks them then don't try to justify not paying the price. Now if there are extenuatining circumstances then that is to be treated with mercy. Justice requires payment.

This is upsetting to hear. My boy Joe was going to rock NC's.
From one Joe to another Joe I still got you top 3 in my mind man! Don't let this knock you down. I better be seeing you outdoor somewhere. (you too mike)

For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again." [Proverbs 24:16]
sic 'em!!

Today, talent alone is not enough.
