As everyone knows, (who was there) she first pole vaulted at the K-town camp in 2001. How fun! She was sooo raw, and had so much potential!!! Lots of people were just taking her under there wing all week. It was totally cool. The kids were like, how could she be so much a beginner and be Jans' kid? It was cool.
So many people helped her at that first session.
Hail to: Roy, Mikey, Bishop, Doak, Jim, Shayla, MA, Pauly, and all the rest.
I still have the videos!
Were off to Arkansas tomorrow.

Way to go Chelsea! Jan, you've done a great job and so has Anthony. I can tell you're proud and you should be! Keep up the great work!

Chelsea has been one of my picks for the trials ever since I saw her at USA's last year. I guess she won't exactly be the darkhorse anymore after a great indoor. I'd be suprised if she doesn't jump 15 this weekend. Its nice to see a college girl raise the bar alittle for the women. LB

Muy appreciato!
She is still in many ways a beginner.
Anthony was so freaked out when they started vaulting at UCLA her first fall. She could still not do a swing up with out spinning around the pole.
So he calls me one day and says: "whats up with her not being able to swing up?" to which I replied: " well she's only been vaulting three months!"
She was too heavy last season, so she came home and worked hard all summer and got back into shape. Her speed came back and her technique has gotten better.
See ya in Fayetteville!
